The book “3650 Days of Contemporary Architecture in Sarajevo”
In May 2017, the Sarajevo Days of Architecture festival was held for the tenth time. During the lectures that made up the program of the first edition in 2008, an almost forgotten visual presentation tool was used – the overhead projector. Nine years later, the festival opened with a video mapping of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This difference well illustrates not only the maturation of the Days of Architecture, but also the scale of technological change in the decade behind us.”
“With its iconography, the book sends a clear message. First, the content is dense and rich, which reflects the experience of compression and concentration that festivals offer. Second, the two main visual genres in the book are, on the one hand, photographs, visualizations and drawings of the architecture that was presented, discussed and displayed during the Days of Architecture, and on the other hand, photographs of visitors and participants in lectures and discussions, and the openings of exhibitions and installations. The comprehensiveness that the graphic aspect of the book communicates is also noticeable in its title. The actual number of days of Architecture Day is only a fraction of the 3,650 days from its title, but the intention is to make every day Architecture Day, and to make the culture of architecture ubiquitous.” – Hans Ibelings in the foreword of the book.
