Starry Night in Visoko, Halim Zukić (BA)

“Starry Sky” near Visoko is an extraordinary landscape project that merges art and nature. Entrepreneur Halim Zukić designed a lavender field shaped to recreate Van Gogh’s famous “Starry Night” when seen from above. What began as a personal passion has grown into a cultural landmark of remarkable scale, blending spontaneous creativity with local identity and storytelling. The importance of the project lies in its ability to connect agriculture, tourism, and art in an entirely new way.

The lavender fields function not only as a sustainable crop, but also as a vast visual canvas where horticulture becomes a medium of expression. Carefully arranged plants, paths, and ponds create the effect of Van Gogh’s swirling skies and glowing stars, turning the land into a living artwork that resonates with visitors.

By reinterpreting one of the world’s most recognisable paintings through the rhythms of the Bosnian landscape, “Starry Sky” creates new economic opportunities, and demonstrates how imagination can redefine both the purpose and perception of a landscape. Being developed without full architectural plans, rather evolving organically; the project represents how individual vision, when guided by perseverance and bold creativity, can extend far beyond conventional boundaries.
