Rotating house in Srbac, Vojin Kusić (BA)

The “Rotating House” is a unique project that gained media attention for its innovation and unconventional approach. Built by Vojin Kusić, a self-taught inventor, to fulfill his wife’s wish for a changing view, it exemplifies the spirit of Free&Wise through personal ingenuity and bold rethinking of everyday living.
Located in a region not widely known for experimental architecture, the house stands out. Its mechanical rotation allows the structure’s view to shift, literally turning the landscape into a dynamic part of the dwelling. It is not just an architectural curiosity, but also an assertion of agency: that ordinary people, with modest means and determination, can redefine what a home can be.

The house has drawn attention from its neighbor, both for its novelty and for the way it challenges conventional expectations of domestic architecture in Bosnia and Herzegovina. An everyday home turned into a kind of kinetic sculpture, where changing light and changing views become parts of how one inhabits space. In fulfilling a personal dream, the Rotating House becomes emblematic: a landmark not of scale, but of creativity. In its turning, it reminds us that architecture, at its best, responds to human desires, not merely to norms.
